The Red Lion is set in the tiny village of Avebury which is three miles in radius and some 2000 years older than Stonehenge! Refurbished Winter 2013 the pub is 400 years old and located at the centre of the stone circle where every six weeks a pagan festival is held. Purchased by the local community in March 2018, these premises have been substantially refurbished and re-opened in September 2018 as a Freehouse run by tenants Roger and Emie Hawkshaw. Roger runs the kitchen and cooks fresh, seasonal produce and does not compromise on flavour and quality ingredients. His menus change regularly (often more than once a week).
